Study of science of matter, energy and the relation between them is called physics. The study began prior to ancient Greek era when matter started becoming the subject of human interest. Earlier it was used to develop simple tool, weaponry and optics and gradually due to more discoveries the physics expanded and with the advent of sophisticated technology, the nature of study escalated that in modern age discoveries of physics is comprised of the study of universe from largest galaxies to the smallest subatomic / virtual particles. Furthermore it is the baseline of many other branches of science, like chemistry, geology and it can also be extended to medical sciences. Physics has also proved resourceful when it comes to its industrial application like nuclear reactors and other energy generation tools, laser surgical tools, means of transportation, etc.
Branches of physics:
When people think of physics, people like Isaac Newton, Albert Einstein and Steven hawking comes into mind. They think that the abstract concept such as the gravitational force between apple and the earth, the curvature of earth and the fabric of space-time or black holes __ none of which has obvious application in the real world. Questions like why spend so much for looking at stars? How is smashing atoms together more important than ending hunger? __ What people don’t realize is that the fundamental understanding of universe can give us the power to create technologies that were beyond the imaginations of our ancestors.
Physics plays a vital role helping us understand the world around us, the world inside us, and the world beyond us. It challenges our imaginations with concepts like relativity and string theory, and it leads to great discoveries, like electronics and aeroplanes, that lead to advancement in technologies which change our lives—from medicines, to curing aids, to developing renewable energy solutions by producing efficient electronic cells and wind turbine.

||Study of effect of changing in temperature, pressure and volume on physical systems. The study in this field empowers us to develop machine parts or equipment to provide appropriate amount of heat. Some applications of heat are hazardous to the people and environment, the study of this branch can indicate to control the losses and work more safely and presence of hot substances.
Refrigeration technology was made possible by understanding of the laws of thermodynamic and concepts such as heat, work and entropy.
Modern car engines also work based on the laws of thermodynamics and energy conversion.
||Study of magnets, lines of forces and their effect. The knowledge of which is used to produce mechanical motion that drives most of our industries, vehicle and water pumping systems. Electromagnetic waves however can be used in more advance applications i.e. in telecommunication etc to produce communication equipment like Seattleite, radio, tv etc.
This field of physics has much medical as well as industrial use. With Maxwell’s equator we have the power to control electricity, and thus operate industries on full capacity safely
