Calculation of pressure in a liquid
Suppose we consider a horizontal area A, in m-, at a depth of h, in m, below the surface of a liquid of density p, in kg/m3 (see Fig. 10.7). Standing on this area is II vertical column of liquid of volume hA, in m’, the mass of which (volume x density) is given by hAp, in kg.

Therefore, It is important to notice that the area A does not appear in the final expression the pressure. The pressure at any point in a liquid at rest depends only on the depth density. This result can be verified by the following experiments.
